Local Newark activists were upset that some out of town activists had a rally on the City Hall steps and were trying to make Newark Mayor Ras Baraka look bad during a recent increase in homicides.

The rifle ammunition is very similar to what is used by the US military in their high powered M-16 rifles in Iraq and  Afghanistan.

  • While with NJ State Trooper Det. Paul Kochis, right, inside the Homicide Task Force's office, Raheem Cleveland, who was one of the 7 people wounded at the shooting on Sheerer Ave., is escorted to jail just after being placed under arrest for the murder at 349 Osborne Terrace where Marquis Robinson was killed on his porch the week prior. On Sheerer Ave., Cleveland the intended target, returned fire with a .40 caliber hand gun that was traced back to being used to kill Robinson. This evidence and multiple eyewitness accounts that Cleveland was the gunman at Osborne Terrace was enough to charge him with the homicide.

A number of the people at the vigil where witnesses to the shooting but where unwilling to talk about it because of the fear or reprisal attacks.

A dance where the girls wear elaborate colorful gowns and boys stylish tuxedos where one can't differentiate their social or economic background because everyone is there to look their best that night. Teens spend hundreds of dollars for the special night. One thing I found particularly interesting and different from my prom in 1989 was the use of smart phones where the teenagers would document and report live about the prom using social media it either by tweeting Facebook or instagram.
